KIYI News 11 – April 2010 Happy Easter from your Standing Committee & co-opted members:

Chair: Jon Turley writesI had a great time attending the two workshops we’ve already held this year. Maggie Dix was the first to teach for us and she gave us a great lesson which challenged and stretched everybody who attended. We all had a wonderful time, so thank you Maggie for the excellent class. Oh, and I think many of us are still wondering just how do you manage to fit so much equipment into your car!

Marion Kilburn travelled a long way to be with us and we were all very appreciative of her time and trouble to come and give us such an inspirational lesson. It was good to meet some new faces and to see some members I had not seen for a couple of years – one of the real benefits of being a member of Kent Iyengar Yoga Institute is the ability to maintain our existing links and forge new ones throughout Kent. Special thanks go to Viv for putting Marion up and transporting her to and from the hall even though she was unable to take part herself.

It is with huge disappointment that I have to report that the weekend in May we had organised with Zubin has had to be cancelled. Geeta has asked Zubin to accompany her when she teaches in the USA because the teacher who was to accompany her failed to get a US visa. Unfortunately this falls on our weekend so he has been forced to cancel I would particularly like to thank both Louise Robinson and Viv Milnes for their considerable effort and time in setting up the original workshops and even more so for handling the cancellations. The onerous nature of the cancellation means that we have no alternative but to completely cancel and unwind all bookings received for the weekend workshops. . However, all is not lost, as Brenda Booth has kindly stepped in and been able to organize a one-day workshop with Zubin on Thursday,20th May from 2p.m. until 8p.m. at the Ashurst Village Hall. Brenda is the contact for all “Kent Zubin” booking enquiries. See below for booking details.

We are fortunate that we have a very exciting programme of workshops still to come this year, which will hopefully make up for any disappointment caused by Zubin’s cancellation. We can also recommend the Jayne Orton workshop on Saturday 15th May in Maidstone. Contact Lin Craddock.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the Judi Sweeting workshop on the 24th of April, definitely one for your diaries.
